Susan Sorrell Hill has been dancing with Art

since the fateful day she was appointed by a ninth grade teacher

to paint a classroom mural for the Victorian novel,

“Great Expectations,” by Charles Dickens.

(The perfect title for a beginning, don’t you think?)

Since then, she has drawn and painted her way through art classes,

design departments, educations in both textile design

and children’s book illustration, and many years

of illustration and fine art painting.

Through it all, her work continues to hold a recognizable whimsey,

attention to detail, and wonder at the inscrutable Mystery of Life.

She can be found painting... or thinking about painting...

most days in her tiny studio in Northern California,

where she lives and works with her sculptor husband,

Ernest Caballero.

Susan has written and illustrated two picture books which are looking for their publishers:

“The Emperor’s Pear Tree,” and “The Teapot’s Tale.”

Still wondering...? Read more curious tidbits: ”Telling Stories with a Brush”.
